Watch Taylor’s heartfelt performance below:

Taylor and Ronan’s mother co-wrote this emotional track.  Read the lyrics below:

Taylor’s performance of ‘Ronan’ left her in tears.

I remember your bare feet down the hallway
I remember your little laugh
Race cars on the kitchen floor
Plastic dinosaurs
I love you to the moon and back

I remember your blue eyes
looking into mine
like we had our own secret club
I remember you dancing before bedtime
then jumping on me waking me up
I can still feel you hold my hand
little man, and even the moment I knew
you fought it hard like an army guy

Remember I leaned in and whispered to you
Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away from here
You were my best four years

I remember the drive home when the blind hope turned to crying and screaming “why?”
Flowers pile up in the worst way
No one knows what to say about a beautiful boy who died
And it’s about to be Halloween you could be anything you wanted if you were still here
I remember the last day when I kissed your face and whispered in your ear

Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away from here
out of this curtained room and this hospital gray will just disappear
Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away from here
You were my best four years

What if I’m standing in your closet trying to talk to you?
What if I kept the hammy downs you won’t grow into?
And what if I really thought some miracle would see us through?
What if the miracle was even getting one moment with you?

Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away from here
Come on baby with me, we’re gonna fly away from here
You were my best four years

I remember your bare feet down the hallway
I love you to the moon and back.

Taylor to debut new song on Stand Up to Cancer telethon

The charitable acts accomplished by Taylor Swift throughout her career are just as monumental as her musical achievements.  Tonight she will continue her trend of giving back when she participates in the Stand Up to Cancer telethon.

The event brings together celebrities ranging from film stars to professional athletes to music sensations for the purpose of raising money for cancer charities.  Taylor will use her talents for good by debuting a special track titled “Ronan.”

The subject of the song is a 3-year-old boy Ronan, who died of neuroblastoma last year.  His mother, Maya Thompson, kept a blog that inspired Taylor to write the song.  Thompson is credited as a co-writer, according to TaylorSwift.com.

Taylor will reveal “Ronan” to the public during the telethon, which will air on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

The song will be on iTunes following the telethon.  All proceeds will benefit cancer charities.

For information on how to donate to Stand Up to Cancer, click here.

Taylor’s performance on SU2C will not be her first time helping those affected by cancer.  She has visited sick children at the Ronald McDonald House in New York and invited an 18-year-old fighting leukemia to the ACMs earlier this year.

Also, a recent Facebook post by her father, Scott Swift, indicated he battled cancer and beat it.

Based on Mr. Swift’s post, Taylor’s performance will definitely evoke many emotions.

Make sure to watch the Stand Up to Cancer telethon and support cancer charities by donating and/or purchasing “Ronan” on iTunes.

Taylor VMAzes with first live performance of WANEGBT

If you found yourself uncontrollably singing/jumping/crying/screaming in front of the TV while Taylor owned the VMA stage, you were not alone.

Watch Taylor’s first live performance of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ below and recreate last night’s entire sequence of unending happiness in front of your computer.

Take deep breaths.  In and out.  Slowly.  Good.

Now that you’ve stopped hyperventilating, let’s break down the act of brilliance you just witnessed.

Taylor Swift knows how to put on a show.  She graced the VMA stage for about four minutes and 13 seconds but provided an entire concert worth of entertainment.

An army of dancers, a band dressed as woodland creatures, and eye-popping colors comprised the on-stage portrayal of WANEGBT.  Don’t forget the major attitude and sass displayed by Taylor, crowd surfing, and confetti.  Did all this really take place during one song?  Not many artists could pack that much excitement in such a short time.

She appeared to be having as much fun as the fans watching as she bounced around the platform with her wonderful dance moves and beaming smile.  Whipping around her ponytail a few times, we got our hairflip fix.  She even added my personal favorite Taylorism–the way she leans back and holds the mic during long notes (i.e. ‘Dear John’).

From sassily strutting in sunglasses to gracefully hovering above ground with the help of her dancers, Taylor truly created what resembled a live music video.  And isn’t that what VMA performers strive to do?

Check out photos from the performance here.

Preparing for Taylor’s night of VMA’zzzz

When Taylor Swift releases music, it’s a big deal.  To live up to the hype, she chose one of music’s biggest stages to deliver the first live rendition of her new single.

At MTV’s Video Music Awards Thursday, she will perform ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ in front of the Staples Center crowd in Los Angeles.

“There’s really nothing like the VMAs,” Swift told MTV News’ Sway Calloway.  “It’s really an honor to get to perform again.”

This will be her third time playing at the VMAs, but she says the pressure still eats at her.

The VMAs have been a roller-coaster ride for Taylor;  ‘You Belong With Me’ won Best Female Video in 2009,  Kanye West voiced his disagreement on stage regarding the video’s victory, and she responded to the incident a year later with an emotional portrayal of ‘Innocent.’

With two memorable VMA performances under her belt, Taylor will try to impress again with the hit single WANEGBT.

The MTV Video Music Awards will air live on MTV at 8 p.m. ET Thursday 9/6.  The pre-show will feature red carpet coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET on MTV.

Get ready for some VMA’zzzz, as Taylor put it.

To excite you even more for tonight’s show, here are some clips of Taylor talking about the VMAs:

Swift Sweeps Up Three CMA Nominations

Taylor’s vast collection of awards may expand yet again as the 2012 CMA Awards nominations were announced Wednesday.  A seven-time winner at “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” Taylor is up for three accolades at this year’s event.

  1. Entertainer of the Year: Taylor will look to defend her 2011 crown as the queen of country music.  The pinnacle award in the industry has gone to her twice (2009 and 2011).  The CMA recognizes the act displaying the greatest competence in all aspects of the entertainment field. The voters also give “consideration not only to recorded performance, but also to the in-person performance, staging, public acceptance, attitude, leadership, and overall contribution to the Country Music image.”
  2. Female Vocalist of the Year: Though nominated in this category each year since 2008, Taylor has prevailed only once in 2009.  Voting is based on individual musical performance on a solo album release.
  3. Musical Event of the Year: Taylor collaborated with The Civil Wars for ‘Safe & Sound.’  The solemn lullaby from The Hunger Games soundtrack brought the film’s themes to life through its lyrics and video accompaniment.  The CMA defines a ‘musical event’ as a collaboration of two or more people either or all of whom are known primarily as individual artists and have performed together, as a unit, on a single or album.

The CMA Awards will air on ABC on Thursday Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.

I’m officially back…

I realize my last post was August 13.  And LOTS of Taylor news has occurred since that sparkling day.

Unfortunately, the beginning of my sophomore year at Bradley University happened to fall on the same weeks as much excitement in the world of Taylor Swift.  But I am settled into the college lifestyle again and finally grasping what each of my classes will entail.

Therefore, I am back to blogging…starting now.

While my school work will still demand most of my time, I need to maintain this blog (not just for my readers, but for myself as well).  Over the past couple weeks, I’ve actually missed avidly following Taylor stories.  I guess that’s the aspiring journalist in me making a plea to return to my love for writing (about Taylor).

So I will simultaneously attempt to receive a college education and blog for Swift Central, all for the purpose of one day turning my passion for Taylor and writing into a career.

Oh and I won’t lie…I’ve probably spent way too many hours campaigning for my school in the Taylor Swift On Campus contest. Creating a Facebook page, making posters, and all that good stuff have cut into my blogging efforts.

But I’m officially back now.  So hop back on Swift Central, and prepare for a wild ride in the coming months.

New ABC Exclusive With Taylor

Cynthia McFadden’s full interview with Taylor Swift will be featured this fall in a Glamour profile and will air on “Good Morning America” and “Nightline.”

Tune into “Nightline” at 11:35 p.m. ET tonight (August 13) for an exclusive sneak peek.
