Event Alert: Taylor To Be Honored At Kennedy Ripple Of Hope Gala

July 10, 2012

Taylor is no stranger to the Kennedy family.  She has attended the premiere of Ethel Kennedy’s documentary, named Ethel and Jackie as her fashion inspirations, and vacationed with the famed clan in Cape Cod.  Now she is scheduled to receive the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award.

This honor recognizes leaders of the international business, entertainment, and activist communities who demonstrate commitment to social change. Former recipients include U2’s Bono, Bill Clinton, George Clooney, and Al Gore.

Kerry Kennedy explained why Taylor demonstrates the qualities necessary to recieve the award.

“Taylor Swift’s dedication to advocacy at such a young age continues to inspire me, and I’m delighted to honor her as one of our 2012 Ripple of Hope Award recipients. […] and especially the compassion she’s shown as a proud defender against bullying and LGBTI discrimination. […] As a young person, Taylor has already accomplished so much, and I look forward to watching all that she will do to help build a brighter, more peaceful world for us all.”

The gala will take place on December 3, 2012 at the New York Marriott Marquis. It raises money for the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights, which works to generate social change.

Charitable acts are a significant part of Taylor’s life.  In February, she supplied the Nashville Public Library system with 14,000 books.  In May, she donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for the construction of a music education center.  These are just a couple of the many ways she has positively impacted the lives of millions.

She is as deserving as anyone for the Ripple of Hope Award.  What a wonderful early birthday present for her.
